A woman in Pathum Thani province is seeking help from police after she received a package of underpants in the mail instead of the two iPhones she ordered.

Roongnapa Champasri, 40, said she and her 19-year-old daughter ordered two iPhone 4S devices from a Facebook page that claimed to sell them for 3,000 baht a piece. But the package that arrived contained only underwear and a set of male pajamas, Ms. Roongnapa said.

After realising she had been scammed, Ms. Roongnapa tried to call the seller but no one picked up. Meanwhile, the Facebook page had already disappeared.

According to Ms. Roongnapa, the seller claimed to be a man named Abhisit Vejjapan, which is strangely similar to the name of former Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva. The package appears to have been mailed from Udon Thani province.

"I raised suspicions to my daughter before we transferred the money, but she thought the seller was trustworthy and the phones were cheap," Ms. Roongnapa said. "I would like to warn all other teenagers who want to buy iPhones or other things on the internet to be certain that the sellers are really reliable."

Ms. Roongnapa said she has already filed a complaint with the police.

Key red shirts yesterday greeted the appointment of National Reform Council (NRC) members with indifference, pessimism and contempt.
Red-shirt United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) co-leader Weng Tojirakarn said the whole process was under the junta's dictates, so it was pointless.

"Let them do whatever they want so everyone in this country can see how the NCPO wants to change the country," said Weng, adding he thought the junta wanted to make the bureaucracy more powerful.

Weng said there was no point in red shirts participating, as the junta would make the final decision.

Red-shirt leader Jatuporn Promphan said he was not surprised that neither red-shirt supporters nor members of Pheu Thai Party were appointed NRC members because his group had refused to join in the first place.

"Don't blame people who picked the final list. We now don't care about the individuals but we will closely monitor the substance of the reforms. However, we won't stand in the way of the reform process," he said.

Red shirts gathered in huge numbers yesterday at a heavily secured Suvarnabhumi Airport to receive the body of Apiwan Wiriyachai, who died while receiving medical treatment in the Philippines.
Members of the crowd, dressed in black, included many key red-shirt leaders such as Weng Tojirakarn, Thida Thavornseth, Nuttawut Saikuar and Jatuporn Promphan.

Es bleibt unseren Volksbefreiern nur zu wünschen dass sie ihren grossen Führer

Police Thwart Redshirts' Democracy Monument 'Picnic'

BANGKOK — Dozens of police officers surrounded Democracy Monument last night to prevent a group of Redshirt supporters from picnicking on the monument's steps.

The Redshirts originally planned to hold a laab (northeastern-style pork salad) picnic at the historic site on Ratchadamnoen Avenue to commemorate the 41st anniversary of the student uprising against military rule in 1973.

But the group decided to change their plans and dine at a restaurant opposite the monument after dozens of police officers arrived at the scene.

"We are here today to have dinner and reminisce about the old days," said Arnon Nampha, a lawyer who organised the dinner and has represented many Redshirts and lese majeste suspects in trial.

"Forty-one years ago, the student movement fought for democracy and asked for a constitution," he said. "Today, we are back to that past. There's no permanent constitution, no election, and we don't know when those things will return."

Die Anführer von damals haben sich ja schon dagegen gewehrt von Leuten

Funeral of Pheu Thai MP Draws Thousands of Red Mourners

BANGKOK — Former Pheu Thai politician Apiwan Wiriyachai was cremated today in a ceremony that turned into the largest public gathering of Redshirt supporters since the military coup on 22 May.

Apiwan, a longtime ally of Redshirt icon and former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, died of lung cancer on 6 October at the age of 65 in the Philippines where he was living in exile.

The former Pheu Thai MP, who also served as Deputy House Speaker, was widely admired by the Redshirts, as evident by the approximately 10,000 supporters who attended his cremation ceremony at Bang Phai Temple in Nonthaburi province today.

The ceremony was headed by Thaksin's younger sister and former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, whose Redshirt-supported government was toppled in the 22 May coup.

The flame used in the cremation was provided by the Royal Household Bureau; Apiwan was eligible for the honour because he served in the military and attained the rank of colonel.

Other prominent Pheu Thai politicians and Redshirt leaders also attended the ceremony, including Jatuporn Prompan, Nattawut Saikua, and Thida Thawornseth.

The funeral was the biggest public gathering of the Redshirts since the military ousted Yingluck's pro-Thaksin government and banned all political activities.

In compliance with the ban, most Redshirt leaders have kept a low profile in recent months.

This evening, soldiers were deployed on the roads around Bang Phai Temple and many police officers were posted at the temple to observe the cremation.

However, there were no political activities or speeches at the ceremony, as requested by authorities. Former PM Yingluck, who had to struggle to make her way through the large crowds of Redshirts, left the venue without speaking to the press after she laid down a symbolic flower over Apiwan's coffin.

Apiwan is the first Thai politician to die in exile in recent history. The former Pheu Thai MP fled the country shortly after the coup, along with many other politicians and activists who left to avoid persecution by the junta.

Natürlich war dies nur eine politische Veranstaltung!
Wäre er während der Yingluck Regierung gestorben
wären keine 100 gekommen.

Nachdem Thaksins Hassprediger
4 Monate sprachlos waren
und auch heute noch nix zu sagen haben ,
nutzte man die Kremation
für eine schwarze Politikshow.

Sollte mal Thaksin Shinawatra
in solch einer schönen Verpackung zurückkommen,
bin ich natürlich auch bei seiner Kremation dabei.
Wenn ich noch ein Ticket zum Farang Preis bekomme..!

Es wäre sehr schön wenn in Thailand nicht nur subalterne Bauernopfer sondern auch
Thaksins Drahtzieher zur Verantwortung gezogen würden!
Wenn Hun Sen nicht kooperiert und Jakprapob ausliefert (oder wenigstens festnimmt)
könnte man ihn ja eventuell zurückholen.
Schliesslich kann er seine "Exilregierung" auch aus dem Knast leiten.

Kritik und Selbstkritik!

One year after the controversial blanket amnesty bill was pushed through just before dawn by the then-ruling Pheu Thai Party, red-shirt co-leader and former Pheu Thai MP Weng Tojirakan still says it was a grave mistake that led to the downfall of Yingluck Shinawatra's government.
He explained that it was at that moment that the anti-Thaksin Shinawatra forces managed to gain the critical mass to become a force to be reckoned with.
Only four Pheu Thai MPs, Weng included, abstained from voting for the controversial bill, which would have absolved Thaksin and others, including those who had a hand in the deadly crackdown on red-shirt protesters in May 2010, which led to almost a hundred deaths.

Weng recalled how the Pheu Thai whip tried to convince him to back the bill, but he said he was tired of seeing people being slaughtered on the streets during political protests and people getting away with impunity time and again.

Weng ist einer der wenigen wirklichen "Roten" in Thaksins Hassprediger und Teilzeitterroristen Truppe und als Einziger fähig zur Selbstkritik.

Despite, the red-shirt United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD)'s official opposition to the bill, key members like Jitra Kotchadej say UDD's move was too little and too insincere.

A red-shirt faction was disillusioned by Pheu Thai Party's move and the UDD's refusal to take a stronger stance against the bill - which ended up being the last straw for some of these so-called progressive red shirts.

Es ist wohl jedem klar dass die Yingluck Regierung durch das gewaltsam durchgesetzte
Amnestiegesetz sich selbst gestürzt hat.
Natürlich hätte es auch ohne dieses Gesetz Anti Thaksin Demos gegeben,
aber nicht in dieser Einheit und diesem Ausmass.
Da die Yingluck Regierung nicht fähig zum Dialog oder zum Polizei Grosseinsatz war
ging sie ganz unorganisiert unter.
Prayuths Übernahme als "Putsch" zu bezeichnen ist eine Überbewertung
der siechenden Yingluck Regierung.
Interessant ist aber die Tatsache dass Thaksins Hassprediger seit Beginn
der Yingluck Regierung schon nach einem Militärputsch bettelten.
Warum wohl?
