Thaksin 'Not Responsible' For Return to Thailand in 2016 Prediction

BANGKOK — Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s son has denied media reports that his father handed out books titled “Thaksin Will Return in 2016" at his birthday party in France.

According to reports by Daily News and Manager ASTV, the self-exiled former PM implied that he is eyeing a return to Thailand by giving away the books at his 65th birthday party over the weekend. But Mr. Thaksin’s son, Panthongtae Shinawatra, denied the reports in a Facebook post today.

"The rumour that this book was distributed in my father's birthday is baseless,” Mr. Panthongtae wrote. "Let me emphasize here that - although I have not seen the content inside the book - my family is not involved in the book, regardless of what the authors wrote about my family in a positive or negative way."

According to the book’s publisher, "Thaksin Will Return In 2016" is a collection of astrological predictions about a number of politicians.

Mr. Pangthongtae added that he is worried that the rumour will cause "misunderstanding,” especially "during the atmosphere of reconciliation, when all sides want the country to be at peace and order." He also wrote that he wished to see the military return democracy and civil rights to Thai people very soon.

Mr. Thaksin was ousted in a 2006 military coup and later fled the country to avoid convictions of corruption. He has been living in exile, mostly in Dubai and Hong Kong, but is believed to retain significant influence over Thai politics. Politicians allied to Mr. Thaksin have won every election since his ouster, including his sister Yingluck Shinawatra, who served as Prime Minister from 2011 to 2014.

Although Mr. Thaksin is deeply respected by many rural poor and urban working class Thais, he is despised by a coalition of middle and upper class Bangkokians, who view him as a corrupt, “anti-monarchy tyrant.” Mr. Thaksin's critics have fiercely opposed any attempt to grant the former PM amnesty and allow him to return home.

Since staging the coup against the government of Thakin’s sister on 22 May, Thailand’s military junta has harshly cracked down on the network of Mr. Thaksin's supporters, known as the Redshirts. Scores of activists, politicians, and academics perceived to be allied to the Redshirts have been summoned, detained, and harassed by the military.

Thaksin Sues Newspaper For Linking Him To Anti-Royal Reds

BANGKOK — Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is seeking legal action against an ultra-royalist Thai newspaper that accused him of associating with anti-monarchy activists last week.

Mr. Thaksin's lawyer, Winyat Chartmontri, says the former leader is suing Naewna newspaper for libel and violating the Computer Crime Act, which criminalises disseminating false information through computer systems.

The lawsuit is over an article published on the newspaper's website on 9 August that includes a photo of Mr. Thaksin with Anek Chaichana, a Thai-born Redshirt activist who is currently residing in the United States.

Mr. Anek is thought to have appeared in a controversial anti-monarchy video that was uploaded earlier this month and blocked almost immediately by Thai authorities. A separate lese majeste (insult of monarchy) charge was also filed against Mr. Anek by Buddhist monk and conservative activist Buddha Issara. Under Thai law, those found guilty of criticising the monarchy can face up to 15 years in prison.

The Naewna article alleged that the photo was proof that Mr. Thaksin and Mr. Anek know each other personally. The article also accused Mr. Thaksin of advising Mr. Anek, who reportedly owns a Thai restaurant in San Francisco, to take in another anti-monarchy activist, Chatwadee Amornchat, during her visit to the US.

Mr. Thaksin and his Redshirt supporters are routinely portrayed as anti-monarchists by the rival “Yelloshirt” political faction, which mostly consists of royalists and conservative elite.

Mr. Winyat, Mr. Thaksin's lawyer, denied the accusation.

"The fact is: Mr. Thaksin is someone who is very loyal to the monarchy," Mr. Winyat told Khaosod.

He explained that the photo published by Naewna is misleading, because Mr. Thaksin is a public figure that all kind of people want to have their photos taken with.

"It's an old photo," Mr. Winyat insisted, "And Mr. Thaksin is not related to any action that insults the monarchy."

The lawyer continued, "Each person should be responsible for their own action. It is not related to Mr. Thaksin at all. I would like to call on the movement that aims to undermine Mr. Thaksin to stop this behaviour of linking different things to accuse [Mr. Thaksin] of being a member of anti-monarchy movements."

Es ist die gleiche Story wie seit nunmehr über 13 Jahren!
Da ich weder "Royalist" bin noch mich freiwillig zur Thai "Elite" zählen
lassen würde kenne ich "naewna" leider nicht.
Lesen könnte ich sie eh nicht.
Aber Thaksin ist sowieso jedes Mittel recht um als "Agierender"
und natürlich OPFER in die Medien zu kommen!

So wie der englisch Text lautet, fordert er eine Versöhnung zwischen seinen Hasspredigern
und seinem letzten Politikladen! Na schön! Na und ?

Wenn es ihm wirklich um Versöhnung gehen würde, käme er selbst endlich zurück
würde die Verantwortung übernehmen , setzte sich neben seinen Erzfeind Sondhi
kurzfristig in den "Roten" Knast und könnte danach problemlos nach den neuen
Spielregeln sich von seinem Wahlvieh zum nächsten mehr demokratischen
und mehr kontrollierten PM wählen lassen.
Aber sowas will er natürlich nicht.
Er will democrazy! Neue Marionetten und noch mehr Betrug!
Nein, Thaksin will nicht begreifen dass weder seine bezahlten Hassprediger
noch sein letzter Politikladen das Problem in Thailand sind
sondern ausschliesslich ER!
Ohne ihn gäbe es diese UDD nicht und ohne ihn gäbe es keine Pheua Thai
in dieser Form!
Eine Versöhnung wird es ohne ihn nicht geben!
Dafür hat er vorgesorgt.

die Sch..... die seine 3 Marionettenregime hinterlassen haben wegwischt.

Danach wird er sich für diese Reformen feiern lassen und triumphal zurückkehren.
Dies sollte eigentlich der grosse Weckruf an Prayuth sein!
Thaksins Mafia Netzwerk ist noch weitgehend intakt.
Alle wichtigen Personen, soweit sie nicht geflüchtet sind, agieren noch
im Sinne Thaksins selbst wenn sie auf einen "inaktiven" Posten verschoben wurden!
Wenn es Prayuth nicht geling Thaksins Mafia Netzwerk zu zerschlagen
hat er und Thailand verloren!
Hoffentlich kapiert er dies bald!

die er und seine Hassprediger und Lakaien hinterlassen haben!

Sein Mafia Netzwerk ist noch weitgehend vorhanden weil Prayuth nur
ein paar Gallionsfiguren Thaksins auf inaktive Posten versetzt hat.
Die sind aber noch im System!

Wenn Prayuth diesen grossen Fehler nicht bald korrigiert hat er
und Thailand verloren!

Es ist erstaunlich mit wie wenig es Thaksin immer wieder gelingt in die Schlagzeilen zu kommen!
Jetzt fährt er mit seinem Nummerngirl entweder zu Hun Sen um diesem zu überreden
nicht abzufallen und seine "Exil Regierung" (555) spielen zu lassen.
Oder er fliegt nach Brunei um den Sultan zu erklären weshalb sein Business Plan
bisher nicht aufgegangen ist.

Opposition to the military-led government could gain momentum this year, but it depends upon economic stability, actions by Thaksin Shinawatra and the fate of Yingluck Shinawatra, said red-shirt leaders assessing the political landscape.
The year 2015 will be critical for Thai politics, and former prime minister Thaksin will have to weigh his steps carefully, said a leading Northeast-based red shirt who, fearing repercussions from the military, agreed to speak to the Bangkok Post on the condition he not be named.

He said the entire red-shirt movement is waiting to see what Thaksin does next.

"If he lets time pass and does not make any big moves, his fate would be like that of Pridi Banomyong," the source said, referring to the former premier and statesman who died in exile in Paris.

Es ist sehr schade dass Weng und die paar wirklich ROTEN Intellektuellen

Die Pole Position bei Thaksins Wahlvieh hat immer noch und wohl auch in Zukunft

Prayuth hat es selbst in der Hand!
Wenn er nicht wirkliche Kritik und mehr freie Meinungsäusserung zulässt,
treibt er selbst denkende Menschen in Thaksins Bauernfängerarme!
Damit gibt er diesem die Möglichkeit nach dem Ende der Militärdiktatur
mit seinem nächsten Marionettenregime (möglichst unter Yingluck)
weiterzumachen wie vorher!
