Tankhun wins Don Muang by-election

The Bangkok Election Commission has officially confirmed that Tankhun Jitt-itsra of the opposition Democrat Party has snatched Bangkok Constituency 12 (Don Muang) from the ruling Pheu Thai Party in Sunday's by-election.

Mr Yuranan said he accepted defeat and would like to congratulate Mr Tankhun.

"I'll take all the blame for this loss. I had only 18 days to campaign while Mr Tankhun has had two years," Mr Yuranan said. "If I had a week or two more, the difference of about 2,000 votes would not have been a problem."

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Minister Anudith Nakornthap, also a Pheu Thai member, said Pheu Thai accepted the voters' decision.
