The Pheu Thai Party has asked the National Anti-Corruption Commission to delay its decision on charging 381 former MPs and senators over a charter draft.

NACC decides not to investigate Yingluck related to senatorial charter amendment bill

January 7, 2014 5:21 pm

The National Anti-Corruption Commission Tuesday voted not to conduct an investigation against caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and 72 others related to the charter amendments of the Senate's composition.

The NACC decided to drop the case against Yingluck and 72 senators and former MPs.

Yingluck and the 72 senators and former MPs were among 381 senators and former MPs whom were filed complaints against for having supported the unconstitutional charter amendment bill.

The NACC said Yingluck and 64 senators and former MPs voted for the bill only in the third reading and eight others did not vote for the bill in the third reading so the NACC decided not to pursue the probe against them.

The National Anti-Corruption Commission Tuesday resolved to conduct an investigation against 308 ex-MPs and senators for having supported the unconstitutional charter amendment bill on Senate's composition.

The NACC decided to investigate 293 ex-MPs and senators who voted for the bill in the first and second readings. It also decided to probe 15 ex-MPs and senators who sponsored the bill.

The Constitutional Court has ruled that the bill was unconstitutional. Following the ruling, complaints were filed against 381 ex-MPs and senators for their role in passing the bill.
