Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha is set to exercise his special Section 44 powers under the interim charter to tackle the scourge of "position buying" in the police force.

Gen Prayut admitted there have been many allegations of position buying in the force involving huge amounts of money and the government is preparing to tackle it by restructuring the Royal Thai Police reshuffle procedure.

In principle, supervisors at all levels, from the bottom at the provincial police commander rank to those holding middle and top posts, should have a say in appointments in their areas and the national police chief would make the final decision, said the prime minister.

in ihrem ungesetzlichen Tun unterstützen!

Both the chief of Bangkok police and the nation’s largest beverage company failed to respond to a state watchdog’s demand they clarify their financial relationship.

Sanit Mahatavorn and ThaiBev were given a week to explain whether Sanit was still a paid adviser to the company, which produces alcohol under the Chang and SangSom brands. The deadline expired Thursday.

The secretary-general of the state ombudsman’s office, Raksagecha Chaechai, said Thursday that his organization would have to discuss its response, saying it could choose to renew its request to both parties.

“If it’s necessary for them to gather documents, they could ask to extend the deadline,” he said Thursday. “But if they neglected to respond, they might not know that’s a criminal offense.”

Failing to comply with the ombudsman is a crime punishable by up to six months in jail and a 10,000 baht fine, Raksagecha said.

The request was made public on Jan. 25, but the seven day timer didn’t start until Jan. 26 when Sanit and ThaiBev received notification, Raksagecha said.

The request came after it was disclosed that Sanit, who was appointed chief of the metropolitan police in October, had been receiving 50,000 baht every month from ThaiBev since 2015. ThaiBev, one of the nation’s two major brewers, said he was employed as a consultant.

His total annual remuneration is 1,425,600 baht per month, according to financial disclosures filed with the National Anti-Corruption Commission, or NACC.
Was verdient eigentlich ein kommunaler Polizeichef in DACH?

National police chief Pol General Chakthip Chaijinda on Monday said he ordered investigation into a photo which showed senior Immigration police officers with a Lao drug lord, Xaysana Keopimphan.

The order is to find out how and why those three Immigration police posed for photo with Xaysana who is now in police custody on drug related charges.

Chakthip said he has not yet seen the photo but was already informed about it.
55555!

in Thailand.

CHON BURI - A superintendent of Nongprua police station has explained why members of the public wanting to file complaints at the station on Sunday between 9.30-11pm did not meet any officer but were greeted by two young civilians instead.

Pol Col Jirawut Tanwtasri on Monday said there were two officers handling public complaints on Sunday night -- one in charge of investigation tasks and the other a police blotter -- and that the absence of the officers complained by the public was coincidental.

The first officer left the office at 9.30pm to investigate a car break-in along with a team of investigators and the car’s owner. All of them returned at 11pm with a witness.

The investigators then questioned the car owner and a witness in an inquiry room in the back of the station building while the first duty officer went to search for documents in a second-floor room.

During that period, Pol Col Jirawut said the second duty officer had sudden high blood pressure symptoms and had to see a doctor. He then asked a woman, who was a former student trainee at the station, to stay at his desk temporarily until he returned.

On late Sunday night, residents in Bang Lamung district including a foreigner were left scratching their heads trying to figure out why they could not see a single police officer at the three-storey Nongprua station.

Local media reported that they met a woman and a man in their early 20s sitting behind two computers at complaint desks. Footage of a television channel showed the former student trainee told a reporter and residents that "the duty officer went out for a meal".

She also said she could handle complaints about petty offences such as theft while the officer was away.

Returning home disappointed were a man who wanted to report a car break-in, a group of people wanting to bail their relatives arrested earlier in the evening for illegal betting and a foreign man who arrived on a motorbike taxi but his business with the Thai police was not known.

The group left the station after they felt they had waited too long.

The incident has drawn public attention after it was reported on midnight news of some TV channels on Sunday, as well as in social media.

Pol Col Jirawut said he had talked to all station officers to prevent a repeat of the incident. He appealed to the public for understanding, citing a lack of manpower and that most of his station officers were old.

Pol Lt Gen Jitti Rodbanyang, the Provincial Police Region 2 commander, on Monday said he had stressed to the Nongprua police chief to ensure public services were available at all times.

“At Nongprua, [the problem occurred] because a duty officer went to a crime scene and another went out for a meal,” Pol Lt Gen Jitti said, contradicting Pol Col Jirawut's account.
dies enfach so hinnimmt so muss man fragen was diese Militärdiktatur eigentlich noch hier will?

BANGKOK — Police on Friday filed a libel lawsuit against speakers of an academic forum for criticizing their performance.

The suit was filed at Lumpini Police Station, four days after national police chief Chakthip Chaijinda ordered the police’s legal affairs department to look into the Jan. 26 forum, which he deemed defamatory toward police nationwide, said Bangkok police chief Sanit Mahathavorn Tuesday.

“The suit relied on the consideration of the Official of Legal Affairs and Litigation,” Police Col. Worawit Yanchinda, who was appointed to file the case, said Tuesday. He said he did not know which part of the speech was specifically identified as being problematic.

The suit addressed two out of four speakers in the forum, Sangsit Piriyaransan from Rangsit University and Police Col. Wirut Sirisawasdibutr, former member of the National Reform Council.

A recent case in which massive fraud was suspected to have taken place during entrance examinations led the public to heavily question police integrity. That inspired the Anti-Corruption Organization of Thailand to hold a discussion on the topic called “What’s the point of having Thai Police?” at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.

The forum addressed a host of problems involving Thai police such as corruption, bribery and involvement in crime and drug trafficking.

The other two speakers were Police Capt. Vichien Tansirikongkhon from Burapha University and a media professional Pattanadech Asasappakij.

Six police officers in Bang Phlad district of Bangkok have been dismissed from the force for allegedly selling drugs that had been seized in recent raids.

Pol Lt Gen Sanit Mahathavorn, the Metropolitan Police Bureau commissioner, announced the dismissals of the officers from the Bowon Mongkol station on Friday.

Dismissed were three deputy investigative chiefs: Pol Capt Suphat Prajonghat, Pol Capt Nitithorn Pholboon and Pol Lt Weeraphol Khamdee; and three junior detectives: Pol Sen Sgt Maj Parinya Jithan, Pol Sgt Maj Phunat Netsawang and Pol L/C Ruangyos Samboonrua.

Officers from Metropolitan Police Division 7 arrested Pol Capt Suphat at his station and found 13,000 speed pills, 100 grammes of crystal methamphetamine or "ice" and an amount of ketamine in a locker of the investigative section.
The Bangkok police chief said he would object to their temporary release.

He also transferred their two superiors to inactive posts for 30 days. They are Pol Col Wiradol Thapthimdee, chief of the Bowon Mongkol station, and Pol Lt Col Suphap Phetcharat, the investigative chief.

The two will be investigated to determine if they were involved in the illicit business or failed to oversee their subordinates properly, Pol Lt Gen Sanit said.

Metropolitan Police Bureau chief Sanit Mahathavorn claims there was a „mistake“ in his asset declaration and insists he has never worked as an adviser for the alcoholic drink giant, Thai Beverage Plc, the Ombudsman says.

The Office of the Ombudsman’s secretary-general Raksagecha Chaechai said Pol Lt Gen Sanit claimed his asset declaration submitted to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) contained a „mistake“ because he did not prepare it himself, which caused a misunderstanding among his staff.

Upps , kann ja mal vorkommen!Soll dieser vielbezahlte ähh -beschäftigte Chef
denn auch nochetwas selber machen?

n fact, Pol Lt Gen Sanit claimed he has never done the job in question..

Pol Lt Gen Sanit also claimed he clarified the issue with the Ombudsman late because he was swamped by work, Mr Raksagecha said, adding Pol Lt Gen Sanit also sent to the office details of his work routine as evidence.

According to the asset report, Pol Lt Gen Sanit had been receiving a monthly payment of 50,000 baht from Thai Beverage since 2015, which sparked public criticism about ethics and a conflict of interest. Mr Raksagecha said Thai Beverage has also written to the Ombudsman, insisting the conglomerate had never hired the senior officer.
